Το COMOTIRIO είναι το συνεργατικό σχήμα των εικαστικών Νάιρας Στεργίου και Εριφύλης Βενέρη. Συστάθηκε το 2018 και ασχολείται με τις θεματικές της μυθοπλασίας, του Ιερού και του Βέβηλου, του πένθους και της τελετουργίας.

Η Νάιρα Στεργίου σπούδασε Ζωγραφική στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας και συνέχισε με μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές (MFA) στη Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten στην Αμβέρσα στο Βέλγιο. Στην Αμβέρσα, ολοκλήρωσε δεύτερες μεταπτυχιακές στο Campus Sint Lucas Αμβέρσα στο πρόγραμμα Master of Research in Art and Design. Ολοκλήρωσε δύο κύκλους σπουδών Θεολογίας στο Orthodox Onderwijs, Theologisch, Instituut Saint-Serge στη Γάνδη (Βέλγιο). Στη συνέχεια πραγματοποίησε τρίτο μεταπτυχιακό κύκλο σπουδών στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης (ΠΜΣ) στη Νεοελληνική Λογοτεχνία. Είναι διδάκτορας της Ανώτατης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών Αθηνών. Η έρευνά της εστιάζει στην καλλιτεχνική πράξη ως mysterium fascinosum et tremendum, ως διαδικασία που προκαλεί ταυτόχρονα έλξη και φόβο και υποστηρίχθηκε από το Ίδρυμα Κρατικών Υποτροφιών. Για το 2020- 2021 διδάσκει ως ακαδημαϊκή υπότροφος στο Τμήμα Εικαστικών Τεχνών της Ανώτατης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας.

Η Εριφύλη Βενέρη σπούδασε στην ΑΣΚΤ και συνέχισε με μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο MFA Public Art and New Artistic Strategies του Bauhaus University Weimar στη Γερμανία με την υποστήριξη του Κοινωφελούς Ιδρύματος Ωνάση. Πραγματοποίησε δεύτερες μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο ΜΑ Art in Context του University of the Arts Berlin με την υποστήριξη του Ιδρύματος Γουλανδρή. Είναι διδάκτορας του Τμήματος Αρχιτεκτόνων του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας. Η διατριβή της εκπονήθηκε με την υποστήριξη του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών Υποτροφιών. Κεντρικές θεματικές στη δουλειά της αποτελούν η επιπολιτισμική διαδικασία, οι καταστάσεις σκηνοθετημένης και αμφισβητούμενης αυθεντικότητας, η απτή πολιτισμική κληρονομιά ως ντεκόρ και ως φόντο. Για το διάστημα 2019- 2020 υπήρξε fellow του ARTWORKS Προγράμματος Υποστήριξης Καλλιτεχνών Ιδρύματος Σταύρος Νιάρχος. Για το 2020-2021 διδάσκει ως ακαδημαϊκή υπότροφος στο Τμήμα Εικαστικών Τεχνών της Ανώτατης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών.

COMOTIRIO is the collaborative scheme of visual artists Naira Stergiou and Eriphyli Veneri. Initiated in 2018, it focuses on the thematics of fiction-making and ficitonality, the Sacred and the Profane, mourning and ritualistic practicing.

Naira Stergiou has studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts. She has undertaken her first postgraduate studies at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp, Belgium (MFA), and has completed second postgraduate studies at Campus Sint Lucas Antwerp (Master of Research in Art & Design). She has also attended courses of Theology at the Orthodox Onderwijs, Theologisch, Instituut Saint-Serge in Gent, and then proceeded with third postgraduate studies in Modern Greek Literature at the University of Crete. She is a PhD holder of the Athens School of Fine Arts. Her doctoral studies were supported by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation. Her artistic practice primarily focuses on the visualization of the immaterial and the invisible as mysterium fascinosum et tremendum, i.e. as a simultaneous triggering of both fear and attraction. For the academic year 2020-2021 she is a teaching fellow at Athens School of Fine Arts.

Eriphyli Veneri studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts. She undertook postgraduate studies at the MFA Public Art and New Artistic Strategies of the Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany with the support of the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation. She completed second postgraduate studies at the MA Art in Context at the University of Arts Berlin with the support of the Goulandris Foundation. She is a cum laude PhD holder of the Department of Architecture, University of Thessaly. Her doctoral studies were supported by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation. Central themes in her work are processes of acculturation, situations of staged authenticity, reproductions of cultural heritage artefacts as props or decoration. In 2019-2020 she received an ARTWORKS artist fellowship award of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship Program. For the academic year 2020- 2021 she is a teaching fellow at Athens School of Fine Arts.
