Maria Efstathiou
Bio
Maria Efstathiou’s work deals with notions around extensive material manipulation through intricate handmade works inspired by natural phenomena, growth and unexpected scale. Although rarely visible as such, her practice is activated by the infinite potential of the drawing line as a principle, often taking the form of large-scale paper wall pieces or environments. She primarily works with paper cut-outs, plaster, projections and book-binding. Efstathiou has taken part in various group exhibitions in England, Greece, Germany and China. She obtained a BA in Fine Art from the Athens School of Fine Arts and a MFA in Fine Art from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London.
